Door locks of the future: airEkey smart locks in the world's largest lock and key museum in Graz

Right in the center of Graz, Austria, next to the location of airEkey Partner, there is a very special museum - the Lock and Key Museum. The family's private collection includes an extensive collection of keys, locks, lockable cases, safes and more over the centuries. Precious exhibits can be admired on 3 floors and 2,500 square meters of space. The building, which is unobtrusive from the outside, houses some 13,000 exhibits, showcasing a wide variety of lockable items, making it the largest museum of its kind in the world.

A few days ago, this very interesting museum was finally allowed to open again. The Schell Collection is available Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. As of February 8, 2021, just follow known safeguards.

From knight locks to digital door locks

Some of the exhibits in the museum date back to the 1st century BC. It seems that it has always been important for people to be able to lock their valuables, especially their own homes.

Keys and locks are made in gorgeous ways and in different materials. Safety has never been more important. This is how the most complex locking mechanism has developed in centuries. Our airEkey smart lock.

There are plenty of reasons to visit this fascinating Graz museum.

We hope you enjoy visiting Graz Castle and the Key Museum.
For those who can't come in person, a 3D tour of the museum is available on the Schell Collection website.
